Patterns of Home Wallpaper

A celebration of heritage, creativity and new beginnings.

Patterns of Home are original wallpaper designs created through a collaboration between People's Print and School of You CIC, working alongside local people and a group of Ukrainian women now living in Lancashire.

Inspired by the rich visual language of Ukrainian folk art, participants explored traditional motifs, symbolic patterns and personal stories through painting, block printing and expressive mark-making. Alongside these cultural influences, the workshops introduced subtle references to Lancashire's own textile heritage, creating a thoughtful dialogue between past and present, home and new beginnings.

The resulting artwork was carefully developed into a contemporary repeat wallpaper design that celebrates both individual creativity and shared experiences. Every pattern reflects the confidence, imagination and cultural knowledge of the women who helped create it.
