Patterns of Home Fabric

A fabric woven with stories of heritage, creativity and connection.

Patterns of Home is an original fabric design created through a collaboration between People's Print and School of You CIC, celebrating the creativity, resilience and cultural heritage of a group of Ukrainian women now living in Lancashire.

Inspired by the intricate motifs and symbolic storytelling found in traditional Ukrainian folk art and embroidery, participants explored painting, block printing and expressive mark-making to create a rich collection of original artwork. Alongside these cultural influences, the workshops introduced gentle references to Lancashire's own textile heritage, creating a thoughtful connection between two places with deep traditions of making.

The resulting artwork was transformed into a contemporary repeat pattern that honours both personal stories and shared experiences. Retaining the energy and character of the original marks, the design brings together heritage and modern interiors in a fabric that feels both timeless and distinctive.
